The UWO All-Sky Camera Network

As part of the UWO Meteor Group's sensor suite and in a joint project with Sandia National Laboratories, we are equipped with five all-sky video systems running Sandia designed sentinel detection units. The cameras detect large meteors as they burn up in the atmosphere.  These events are compared against those from several other cameras to determine where meteoroids enter the atmosphere, as well as their size. The cameras are located on campus at UWO, at the observatory in Elginfield, at the radar site, at McMaster University, and in Collingwood. All of the cameras are connected by internet modem to UWO. We also use a single high-resolution CCD camera at Elginfield.

Links to recent bright events and other interesting footage captured by the cameras are at the bottom of this page.
